An-Najah National University Discusses Prospects for Cooperation with the Royal Jordanian Institute for Religious Studies

    A delegation from An-Najah National University, represented by Prof. Jamal Zaid Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Director of An-Najah Center for Religious Studies, and Mr. Raed Al-Debai, Assistant to the University President for Community Affairs and a member of the Center’s administrative board, visited the Royal Jordanian Institute for Religious Studies in Amman on Sunday, November 24, 2024, to explore prospects for future cooperation and partnership between the two institutions.

    At the beginning of the meeting, the An-Najah delegation conveyed the greetings of the university administration and its Board of Trustees to the Institute, and extended the university’s regards to His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Trustees, in recognition of his leading role in promoting interfaith dialogue and supporting shared human values.

    Dr. Rania Hattar, Director of the Institute, presented an overview of the Institute’s activities, including its academic and research programs and its role in advancing religious studies and enriching interfaith dialogue. In turn, Prof. Jamal Al-Kilani and Mr. Raed Al-Debai highlighted the main activities of An-Najah Center for Religious Studies, emphasizing its role in promoting moderate thought, providing enlightened interpretations of religion, and encouraging dialogue among followers of Islam, Christianity, and Samaritanism. They also highlighted the Center’s efforts to strengthen common ground based on human fraternity and the value of diversity and difference.

    The meeting addressed potential areas of cooperation, including organizing joint training courses and establishing communication between the Royal Institute’s library and the Center’s library to provide specialized research resources in religious studies. The visit included a tour of the Institute’s libraries, allowing the delegation to review its rich and diverse resources supporting academic research and studies.

    The meeting was also attended by Dr. Amer Al-Hafi, Academic Advisor to the Institute, and Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Saleh, Senior Researcher, who contributed ideas on enhancing academic collaboration and developing joint research programs between the two institutions.

    The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of building a sustainable partnership between An-Najah Center for Religious Studies and the Royal Jordanian Institute for Religious Studies, supporting interfaith dialogue, promoting shared human values, and launching pioneering academic and research programs. This visit reflects An-Najah National University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its regional and international relations in research and religious studies, while promoting values of tolerance, moderation, and openness in academic and religious communities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
