An-Najah Center for Religious Studies Participates in the Sixth Annual Conference on Gender Justice from the Perspectives of Citizenship and Religion
- Oct. 26, 2025

The conference was organized on behalf of Bishop Dr. Sani Ibrahim Azar, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, and aimed to address issues of gender justice from diverse religious and societal perspectives. The event was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
In his address, Prof. Al-Kilani delivered a speech entitled “Citizenship and Justice from an Islamic Perspective.” He focused on three main themes: love of الوطن and human nature, the relationship between citizenship and justice, and national unity in the face of contemporary challenges.
He concluded by emphasizing that when justice and citizenship are realized together, they produce a cohesive society—like a solid structure—capable of protecting the homeland, strengthening its identity, and safeguarding the future of its أبناء.
Through this participation, the An-Najah Center for Religious Studies reinforced its academic and societal presence, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the values of justice, equality, and national belonging through constructive dialogue among diverse religious and community components.
In his remarks, Bishop Sani Azar expressed his appreciation for the participation of Prof. Al-Kilani and the accompanying delegation, noting that such engagement strengthens cooperation between the Center and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in all its offices and institutions.
The opening session also featured Rev. Sally Azar, the first female pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, and Mr. Simon Ridley, Director of the joint “Sawasiya” Programme at United Nations Development Programme.
The Center was represented at the conference by Prof. Jamal Zaid Al-Kilani, Dr. Hudhayfah Badir, Ms. Rana Qadri, and Eng. Lubna Kino.
At the conclusion of the opening session, Prof. Al-Kilani was honored by Bishop Sani Azar in recognition of his contribution.
