An-Najah National University Meets with the French Institute of the Near East (IFPO) to Expand Academic Collaboration

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, An-Najah National University held a strategic meeting with the
French Institute of the Near East (IFPO) to explore opportunities for academic and scientific
collaboration. Representing An-Najah were Prof. Jamal Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of
Shari'ah and Director of the An-Najah Center for Religious Studies (ANCERS), and Ms. Rana
Qadri, faculty member from the Department of English Language and Literature. The meeting
was attended by Dr. Mehdi Berriah, a distinguished researcher in Islamic thought and history at
IFPO.
Discussions during the meeting focused on key initiatives to foster collaboration between the two
institutions. These included organizing joint scientific workshops, developing collaborative
research projects, and promoting the exchange of expertise and academic visits. The meeting
also addressed avenues for offering scholarships to students, with the shared goal of advancing
scientific research and achieving academic excellence.
Dr. Berriah proposed a follow-up virtual meeting with Dr. Hassan Shahdi from the University
of Lorraine, France, to expand the dialogue and identify additional opportunities for scientific
cooperation.
This meeting aligns with the Faculty of Shari'ah's broader mission to strengthen An-Najah
National University's international academic partnerships and deepen its engagement with
leading global research institutions. By enhancing its network, the university aims to advance
knowledge exchange, elevate research standards, and contribute to global scholarship.
