An-Najah National University Holds a Meeting with the Mufti of Jordan Discussing Potential Avenues for Collaboration Aimed at Promoting Moderate Thought and Advancing the Development of Religious Education.

As part of efforts to strengthen academic and religious cooperation between the Palestinian and Jordanian institutions, a delegation from the An-Najah Center for Religious Studies (ANCERS), affiliated with An-Najah National University, visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. During the visit, the delegation met with His Eminence Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasanat, the Grand Mufti of Jordan, along with several of his assistants and members of the Jordanian Fatwa House. The delegation included Professor Jamal Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Chairman of the Center, and Mr. Debiy, Assistant President of the University for Community Affairs and member of the Center's Board of Directors.
The meeting commenced with the delegation conveying the greetings of the Board of Trustees and Administration of An-Najah National University to the Jordanian Fatwa House, highlighting the profound historical ties between the Palestinian and Jordanian peoples. The delegation also commended the essential role of the Jordanian Fatwa House in promoting moderate Islamic values and addressing the challenges confronting the Islamic world, including hate speech and extremism.
His Eminence Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasanat also provided an overview of the pioneering experience of the Jordanian Fatwa House in utilizing modern technology to enhance the provision of fatwa services. He emphasized the significance of leveraging technological advancements to offer fatwa services that meet the demands of the current era. The Palestinian delegation praised this innovative approach, expressing their desire to draw inspiration from it and implement it in a manner that addresses the needs of Palestinian society.
Professor Jamal Al-Kilani provided a thorough explanation of An-Najah National University's efforts to promote moderate thought and combat extremism, highlighting the establishment of the An-Najah Center for Religious Studies (ANCERS). He reviewed the accomplishments of the "Fatwa" website launched by the university, a pioneering platform for providing religious fatwas, which has garnered over seven million visitors from around the world, reflecting the significant trust it has earned.
In this context, both parties discussed the potential for collaboration to establish a specialized diploma program in fatwa and Sharia judiciary. They emphasized the importance of this program in equipping societies with qualified professionals who embody moderate thought and moderation.
The meeting also addressed the vital role that academic and religious institutions can play in combating hate speech and extremism, while promoting universal human values based on truth, tolerance, and justice.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their desire to enhance joint cooperation in academic and religious fields, with the aim of advancing national issues and fostering moderate Islamic thought. They also underscored the importance of maintaining ongoing communication and exchanging experiences to achieve further collaborative successes.
This visit is part of An-Najah National University’s broader efforts to strengthen its relationships with leading institutions across the Arab world, thereby supporting its academic, social, and religious mission and reinforcing its position as a leading educational institution on both regional and international levels.
